How you start something can really set a tone for how things are going to go for you in any given situation or season. How you first react to a trial that comes your way, what you do first every morning, or how you start off a new season, a new year, or even a new day in your life will determine how you will get through those times.
Ps 63:1-2 God, You are my God; Early will I seek You; my soul thirsts for You; my flesh longs for You in a dry and thirsty land where there is no water. 2 So I have looked for You in the sanctuary, to see Your power and Your glory.
The expectancy of verse two, seeing the power and the glory of God , comes from verse one, seeking God early. When this verse speaks of seeking God early, it does not just mean early in the morning. It means seeking Him early in everything—early in life, early in your Christian life, etc. If you can put into practice this principle of seeking God early in your life, you will have Him close to you for the rest of your life.
Mark 1:35-36 Now in the morning, having risen a long while before daylight, He went out and departed to a solitary place; and there He prayed.
How did Jesus begin his day? He began it with God. That is the first thing he did. If Jesus felt it was important to seek God early, how much more should we want to do the same thing.
Ps 92:1-2 It is good to give thanks to the LORD, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; 2 To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, and Your faithfulness every night,
Commit your heart to seek God early in whatever you are doing...The first thing you should do every morning is to set your focus on God. If you don’t begin your day with God, how much is He really involved in your day guiding what you’re doing? I believe it was Matthew Henry who said if you begin your day with God, you are more likely to live your day with God and you are more likely to end your day with God.
Commit your heart to seek God early in whatever you are doing—early in the morning, early in a new season, early in a new relationship, early in a new job, etc. Doing that will help you to establish godly perspective for whatever it is you will face in any situation.
